The Featherstones: Seasonal Produce, Jams, Home Baking, Frozen beef
Anthony and Elfreide Featherstone, with the help of their daughters Marina and Holly, established Farm Away on their 80 acre farm near Priceville, as a means of expanding upon Anthony’s 30 years of dairy farming experience.
Initially, in autumn 2003, their business comprised relief milking and farm sitting, flourishing into what is now a small-scale beef farm specializing in naturally-raised premium beef, seasonal produce and hay sales.
The Featherstone’s have approached their business with the philosophy of creating a self-sufficient, self-sustaining agricultural operation wherein the highest possible quality beef and produce are cultivated using natural and ethical practices.
In the future, the family intends to expand their current herd of beef cattle and continue emphasizing 100% grass diets.
In an era where the security of food and sustainability of food-growing methods are of paramount concern, Farm Away hopes to be a pillar in the local agricultural community by educating the public and re-instating a knowledge and appreciation of food.
Elfreide, the markets manager for 16 years, says she would like the public to get a glimpse of where their food comes from.
