Early in 2009, Ron Gillespie decided to create his own local food company after being downsized out of his management position at a company in Elmira where he had worked for 34 yrs. The decision was based on his passion for local quality food and desire to be independently employed. Ron has a strong background in local food as his parents ran Our Drive-In Market for 35 yrs. north of Markdale. Ron worked with them part-time for most of those years.
Product of Ontario Market grows herb plants and tomato and pepper transplants every spring and some produce each summer. Ron has also developed a network of suppliers within the local area. Product of Ontario Market sells fresh produce and a variety of local food products at local farmers markets. In 2011, they were vendors at Flesherton, Markdale, Dundalk and Williamsford Farmers Markets and the Marr flea market. In addition, they supply fresh produce into several local restaurants.
