Christine Sedore – Rockyhill Hideaway Peppers & Herbs
My family moved to the Shelburne area in the early 1960′s. I was raised on our family farm and went to school in Shelburne. After completing school, I lived in Orangeville, Gravenhurst and Toronto. I moved to the Flesherton area near Lake Eugenia 20 years ago where I live with my husband Brett, and we have one son, Mason.
I have worked in the area and also spent three years at Georgian College obtaining a business diploma. I am currently working in tax accounting, usually three or four days a week.
I have a passion for all kinds of gardening, both indoors and out and I like the challenge of growing peppers and other plants not normally grown outdoors in our area including peanuts, watermelon and rare herbs and tomatillos.
As well as growing peppers and herbs, I make Picante Salsa, Taco Sauce, Hot pepper jellies, pickled hot peppers and I dry and blend a selection of herb and spice blends.
I strongly believe in growing and eating naturally grown and raised food and I am concerned about mass corporate farming and production using bio-mass fertilizer and other harmful growing practices.
My plan is to continue to grow my market business and successfully develop new products while maintaining high quality and value to my customers.
As a vendor at the Flesherton Farmer’s Market in my third season, I am proud to be a member of a group of like-minded growers, producers and artisans. I hope to be a member and vendor for many more seasons to come.
